Gwalior Fort
Referred to as ‘the pearl amongst fortresses in India’ by Mughal emperor Babur, the Gwalior Fort is one of the most impenetrable fortresses located in the entire northern and southern India and is a place you definitely must visit. Situated on a rocky mountain near Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, this grand structure dominates the entire Gwalior city. An integral part of the city’s identity and architecture, evidence suggests it dates back to the 6th century. Jai Vilas Palace
Jai Vilas Palace, also known as Jai Vilas Mahal, is located in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Maharaja Jayaji Rao Scindia of Gwalior had constructed this building in 1874 to welcome the then Prince King of Wales. Today, it serves as a residence for the descendants of the royal Maratha Scindia family.
Each room of the royal palace contains historical objects, including several swords and Queen Lakshmibai’s original shield. The total cost of this venture was Rs 1 crore, which would probably have been quite expensive in that era.
