Trishul Peak

The three Himalayan mountain peaks of western Kumaun as a whole form the Trishul Peak. Having a height of 7120m, the Trishul group forms the southwest corner of the ring of peaks that enclose Nanda Devi Sanctuary. In 1907, the main peak – Trisul I – became the first peak over 7,000m to have ever been climbed by someone. The peak can be best viewed from Kausani or during the Roopkund Trek.

Skiing in Auli

Skiing in Auli offers beautiful views of peaks like Man Parvat, Dunagiri, and Nar Parvat. The snow-covered hill station of Auli covered with evergreen conifers and the oak forest is located at an altitude of 2000 -3000 metres above sea level and is an ideal place for skiing in India.

Skiing in Auli in the Gorson Reserve forest is habituated by some of the widely rare Himalayan wildlife in ample. These include Snow Leopard, Musk Deer, Wild Boar, Wild Cat, Wild Rabbit, Jackal, Fox, Hyena and Bear. The snow-dressed slopes of Auli which once offered the training grounds for the Paramilitary forces were adjudged by the French and Austrian experts who declared it as the best skiing grounds of the world. In the summer season, hikers may find numerous marked walks and there also are mountain bike trails.

Auli Ropeway

One of the major attractions in Auli is to enjoy a cable car ride. Locally known as a Gondola, the cable car ride in Auli is the second highest and the longest cable car ride in Asia after Gulmarg. Covering a total distance of 4 km, the journey starts from Joshimath and ends at Auli. Perched at a staggering height of 3010 m above sea level, the entire trip is a visual and sensual delight.

You can enjoy the majestic Himalayan peaks in the surroundings and the lush green valley below. You can enjoy views of the snow-capped peaks and the oak forests below. The scintillating views and the gorgeous panoramic vistas are a sight to behold.

The ropeway works with two cable cars through 10 towers and can accommodate up to 25 passengers. Although, the passengers have to keep standing as there are no seats. If you time your trip at the right time, you can even witness the skiing competition going on below.

Gurso Bugyal

Perched at an elevation of 3,056masl, Gurso Bugyal is a picturesque wide meadow in Uttarakhand. Giant coniferous and oak trees enwreath the lush green pasture land. This heavenly trespass provides a terrific view of all the nearby and significant mountain ranges namely Nanda Devi, Dron, and Trishul.

A 3 km trek from Auli will lead you to this scenic, location. You can also trek towards Chattarkund which is just one km away.

Chenab Lake

Chenab Lake is an artificial lake that serves as a reservoir for the people of Auli, Uttarakhand. It is a small crystalline lake that is still less explored and in its purest state, holding the sights of tourists and making it an enchanting spot.

The trek to Chenab Lake is for those who truly want to have a crude and authentic trekking experience – through rocky passes hurdled with twigs and plants. Protected by the Garhwal Himalayan range, Chenab Lake still has crystal clear water.

As the area around the lake remains untouched, you will not find nicely built roads to trek. No one can ride motorbikes and vehicles on this track.
