Sariska Tiger Reserve
Spread over an area of over 800 sq. km, Sariska Tiger Reserve, nestled in the Aravalli mountain range, was once the hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Alwar. The main attraction of this reserve is the presence of the Royal Bengal Tigers. The Sariska Tiger Reserve was the first to successfully relocate the tigers from Ranthambore. A number of other animals like wild boar, chital, jungle cats, etc can be found at the reserve, in addition to these majestic beasts. It is also home to a large species of birds such as the harbour quail, crested serpent eagle, and sand grouse.
Alwar Museum
Established in 1940, the Alwar Museum boasts an awe-inspiring collection of artifacts, paintings, and weapons that form an essential part of the ancient royal heritage. The royal families have gathered sculptures, inscriptions, and hunting trophies and divided them into three sections in the museum. It showcases the tanned skin of leopards, tigers, etc. The second section displays murals, paintings, and frescoes from the Mughal and Rajput times, alongside manuscripts written in Arabic, Persian, Sanskrit, and Urdu languages. Lastly, the third section is replete with various armours, shields, daggers, and swords used by warriors and kings in ancient times.
The Bhangarh Fort
King Madho Singh built this Bhangarh Fort located in Alwar at the borders of the Sariska Tiger Reserve. No one allows visitors to enter the premises of this fort before sunrise and after sunset. The ascetic Guru Balu Nath stipulated that no shadows of the fort should touch his area of meditation when building it. But the king did not keep his promise. So the ascetic cursed the entire village to remain roofless forever.

Folklore has it that Karni Mata turned into a rat after her death, and now all her followers, known as the Charin, turn into rats after their death and spend the rest of their lives in the temple, waiting to be reincarnated as humans again. It is said that spotting a white rat or having a rat scurried over your feet at the Karni Mata temple is considered lucky. So come visit the temple and spot the white rats to turn your luck around.
