Chail Cricket Ground
Maharaja Bhupinder Singh made Chail his summer capital, and as he was a cricket enthusiast, he built a cricket ground here, on the top of a hill. This made Chail, the proud home to the highest cricket ground in the world. The cricket pitch was developed after levelling a large hilltop. Situated at an altitude of 2,444 meters above sea level, the cricket ground is also used as a polo ground. The Army now maintains this field because it is located in the Cantonment area. Civilians cannot enter the ground, but one can still look and walk around the area.
Chail Cricket Ground established the picturesque Himachal Pradesh in 1893. The ground is immensely beautiful as lush green forests surround its location. Chail Military School currently uses it as its school playground. The school often uses the polo ground during the school vacations. The highest cricket ground in the world is well equipped for sports other than cricket as well.
Chail wildlife sanctuary
The Government declared this area a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1976, which was previously a hunters’ reserve for the royal residing in Chail. This sanctuary has a myriad species of birds and animals.
Some of these unique species include Indian Munjtek, Leopard, Wild Boar, Kakar etc. The best time to visit for the sanctuary is from March, and all the way to October.
Sadhupul
Sadhupul is a dainty little village based around the hill river Ashwin, between Chail and Solan. A small bridge atop the river is the highlight of the hamlet which is also a popular picnic spot and is an important tourist site for the adjoining towns.
